Diesel generator set is used as an emergency backup power supply after a power outage due to common or mains power failure. The emergency standby generator set is in standby standby state most of the time, once the power fails, the unit is required to "start in an emergency, power supply in an emergency", otherwise the standby unit will lose its meaning, so the daily maintenance of the diesel generator set is essential.
The maintenance of diesel generator sets can be carried out from the following aspects:
1. Daily maintenance
Check the appearance
Check the appearance of the generator set daily to see if there is obvious damage, deformation or leakage. Special attention should be paid to check whether there are cracks, oil leakage, water leakage and other parts of the fuselage, fuel tank, radiator and other parts.
Check that the cable and plug are securely connected and that they are not broken or loose.
Check the liquid level
Check the fuel level in the fuel tank to make sure you have enough fuel. If the oil level is too low, diesel fuel that meets the requirements should be added in time.
Check the water level of the water tank to make sure you have enough coolant. If the water level is too low, an appropriate amount of purified water or coolant should be added, but be careful not to open the water tank lid when the engine is hot to avoid burns.
Clean the unit
Clean the surface of the generator set regularly, remove dust, oil and other impurities, and keep the appearance of the unit clean and tidy. It can be cleaned with a soft cloth or brush, avoiding scratching with hard objects to avoid damaging the coating on the surface of the unit.
Clean the surface of the radiator from dust and debris to ensure that the radiator is well ventilated. Compressed air or a water gun can be used for cleaning, but care is taken not to spray water directly onto electrical components.
2. Regular maintenance
Change the oil and oil filter
Change the oil and oil filter regularly according to the time or operating hours specified in the generator set's instruction manual. New units should be oiled after 50 hours of first use, and every 250 hours or 3 months of operation thereafter.
Check and adjust the belt
Regularly check the tension of the generator belt to ensure that the belt is within the normal range. If the belt is too loose, it will cause the generator output power to decrease; If the belt is too tight, it will accelerate the wear of the belt.
Check the wear and tear of the belt, if there are cracks, serious wear, etc., the belt should be replaced in time.
Inspect and clean the radiator
Regularly check the heat dissipation effect of the radiator, if the radiator is clogged or poor heat dissipation, it should be cleaned in time. Cleaning can be done using a cleaner and a water gun, but be careful not to spray water directly onto the electrical parts.
Check the tightness of the radiator, if there is leakage, it should be repaired in time.
Check and adjust the valve clearance
Check and adjust the valve clearance regularly according to the time or operating hours specified in the instruction manual of the generator set. Too much or too little valve clearance can affect the performance and life of the engine.
When adjusting the valve clearance, a special tool should be used to adjust it according to the specified clearance value.
Inspect and maintain the electrical system
Regularly check the generator's output voltage, current, and frequency to ensure it is within the normal range. If an abnormality is found, it should be inspected and repaired in time.
Check whether the wiring of the electrical system is firm, and whether there is any looseness, short circuit, open circuit, etc. If there is a problem, it should be repaired in time.
Clean and inspect the battery to make sure it has enough power and is securely connected. If the battery is low, it should be charged or replaced in time.
During long-term storage, the appearance and internal parts of the generator set should be checked regularly to see if there is damage, rust, corrosion, etc. If there is a problem, it should be dealt with in a timely manner. In short, the maintenance of diesel generator sets needs to be carried out regularly, and the operation should be carried out in strict accordance with the requirements of the instruction manual to ensure that the generator sets are always in good operating condition.
